Bring the ‘ohana (family) and celebrate May Day with the Foster City Arts and Culture Committee at the seventh annual Pacific Islands Festival! This event will be held Saturday, May 1, 2010 from 10 AM to 5 PM at Leo Ryan Park in Foster City.
Learn about the different types of leis given in the islands and the significance to the recipient as well as the giver. There will be tantalizing cultural performances from award-winning professional Polynesian Dance companies including, Ehulani’s ‘Ote’a/Kaulana Na Pua O Hawaii of Hayward, Kawailehua Hula Ohana of Milpitas, Merahi o Tehani of Union City, Motu’aina of Danville, Nemenzo of Daly City, ‘Ote’a ‘Api of Fremont and Tamalii of Union City/Hayward.
Don’t miss this exciting day of cultural activities, Arts and Crafts booths, canoe rides offered by Ho’okahi Pu’uwai Outrigger Canoe Club, food and more! Admission is free, however food and drinks will be available for purchase.
