FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lagoon Level Lowered to Winter Level

Foster City, CA; November 9, 2010

The Foster City Public Works Department has announced that the water level in the Foster City lagoon will be lowered by approximately 6-8 inches from summer levels to winter levels during the week of November 15, 2010.

The City’s Lagoon Management Plan sets standard lagoon water levels for winter and summer periods. The lagoon level is lowered in the winter in order to prepare to accept additional stormwater associated with frequent winter storms. In the summer, levels are raised to accommodate recreational uses of the lagoon waterway. However, if a major storm is predicted, the lagoon level may be lowered in preparation for the storm at any time of year.

If you have any questions about the lagoon levels or Lagoon Management Plan, please contact Public Works Maintenance Superintendent Mike McElligott at 286-3546 or mmcelligott@fostercity.org.
