At its June 6 meeting, the Foster City City Council held a public hearing on the 2011-2012 City Budget, which included funding for all Connections Shuttle programs for July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012. The City Council also directed that a $1 per ride fare that be implemented on both the Red Line and Blue Line beginning on July 1, 2011 to reduce the general fund subsidy of the shuttle and allow the City to study the effect of a fare on ridership and cost recovery.
Beginning July 1, shuttle riders must purchase punchcards or monthly passes prior to boarding the bus. Punchcards will cost $5 and are valid for five one-way rides; monthly passes will cost $25 and are good for one calendar month. Both will be available for sale beginning June 20, 2011 at City Hall (610 Foster City Boulevard) and the Foster City Recreation Center (650 Shell Boulevard) on weekdays from 8 AM to 4 PM. Other vending locations will include: Foster City Chamber of Commerce, 1031 E. Hillsdale Blvd., Suite F; M-F 8AM – 5PM Foster City MiniMart, 1080 Shell Blvd; 7 days/week, 7AM – 10PM Peninsula Jewish Community Center, 800 Foster City Blvd; M-Th 5AM – 11PM, F 5AM – 10PM, Sa-Su 7AM – 8PM.
The City thanks these community partners for their cooperation in making shuttle passes more readily available to riders.
Riders can also watch for City staff members and volunteers who will be riding the shuttles to answer questions beginning on June 20. Current information on the shuttle transition will be posted at www.fostercity.org/transportation.
