Creating Energy Smart Homes: Contractor Edition

Foster City, CA; June 29, 2011

Free Event for Residential Contractors and Construction Professionals
Wednesday, July 20, 2011

Attention Residential Contractors and Construction Professionals in San Mateo County! Rapidly evolving building ordinances in the Bay Area are requiring construction professionals to incorporate energy efficiency measures in the home. This focus on residential energy efficiency is being supported by local training programs for contractors and financial incentives for homeowners.

Learn how you can stay ahead of these trends in the construction industry and distinguish your business from the pack by attending “Creating Energy Smart Homes: The Contractor Edition” – hosted by the Foster City Environmental Sustainability Task Force in conjunction with the County of San Mateo.

“Creating Energy Smart Homes: The Contractor Edition” will take place Wednesday, July 20, 2011 from 7:45 AM to 9:30 AM in the Foster City Recreation Center Mist Room, 650 Shell Boulevard. There will be a networking reception with refreshments from 7:45 to 8:15 AM, and the program begins at 8:15 AM. The event is free, and reservations are suggested. E-mail gogreen@fostercity.org or call 650-286-3291 to RSVP for this event.

Speakers will include experts in the energy efficiency field from the Building Performance Institute (BPI), Energy Upgrade California, the Electric and Gas Industries Association (EGIA) and Build It Green (BIG). Attendees will become familiar with home performance and building science standards and hear success stories of contractors that have expanded their business into the home performance sector. The speakers will also discuss incentives and financing available to homeowners and explain how contractors can offer these to clients. Finally, attendees will learn about upcoming training certification opportunities.

This event is hosted by the County of San Mateo, the City of Foster City and Foster City’s Environmental Sustainability Task Force. The task force is dedicated to helping the Foster City community to live in an environmentally sustainable way. This seminar is part of a series that will be offered throughout 2011.
