Construction Advisory Notice Levee Pedway Maintenance Project (CIP 607) – Phase II
Foster City, CA; May 2, 2011
Foster City’s Levee Pedway users are advised that the City will begin a comprehensive repair of the Pedway this spring. The Phase II project will focus on repairs on the approximately two and a half miles from the intersection of Foster City Boulevard and Beach Park Boulevard to the western limits of Lantern Cove property. (see link to map below) Work is expected to begin the week of May 16, 2011 and will last for approximately 6 weeks.
The work will include repair of pavement failures followed by either repaving or seal coating of the asphalt surface. Seal coating involves the application of a thin surface layer of sand with emulsified asphaltic oil. The work also includes the construction of a new two-foot wide decomposed granite jogging path from Sea Cloud Park to the western limits of Lantern Cove property.
The construction work will cause some inconvenience to users of the Levee Pedway. Sections of the Levee Pedway will require temporary closure to facilitate the work. The closures will be confined to specific sections that are being repaired and will be limited in duration in order to minimize disruption. Detours around construction areas may be set up where appropriate. Signs will be posted in advance of doing the work to advise the public of closures related to this work. Additionally, construction information will be posted on the City’s website. The public is asked to exercise caution in the construction areas.
The City’s general contractor for this project is Galedrige Construction, Inc. of Alviso. Work activities will normally take place Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8 AM and 5 PM. However, there may be instances when work activities will need to take place outside the normal periods. Because of the extensive work required, the project is expected to take approximately 6 weeks to complete. However, weather or unforeseen conditions may affect the overall schedule.
The City appreciates everyone’s patience and cooperation as we work to maintain and keep the pedway facility in good condition. If you have any questions or concerns or would like more information regarding this project, please contact the Foster City Public Works Department at 650-286-3270.
