City Seeks Participants To Work On Comprehensive Transit Plan

Foster City, CA; April 15, 2009

The City Council is looking for residents to help create a comprehensive and coordinated Transportation Plan for Foster City. The application process is open through May 1, 2009.

All Foster City residents, but especially those who commute on a regular basis or work for a Foster City based business, are encouraged to apply for this important advisory role. Transportation Committee members will help the City Council set goals for commute trip reduction and will implement existing transportation goals related to mobility for senior, disabled and youth riders and casual shuttle ridership.

At its meeting on April 6, 2009, the City Council authorized the re-constituting of the Ad Hoc Transportation Committee to oversee the implementation of the Transportation Committee Phase I efforts and develop a Phase II plan which will consider ways to assist business commuters to get to work in ways other than single passenger vehicle trips.

All residents are encouraged to apply. The City Council is looking for a diverse cross-section of interests and experience and is also eager to hear from interested non-residents to assist the Task Force as knowledgeable, non-voting resources for the group.

The membership term is one year. The Task Force is expected to meet at least once a month, but probably more frequently, from June through December 2009. The actual time commitment will depend upon the time required for the Task Force to complete its objectives.

Applications may be downloaded by following the link below or be picked up from City Hall, 610 Foster City Boulevard.

For more information about the Ad Hoc Transportation Committee, contact Assistant City Manager Kristi Chappelle at 650-286-3213 or kchappelle@fostercity.org.
