FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Artwork of Vickie W. Chiang and Peggy Kang Featured at Foster City Art Gallery July 30 to August 22, 2010

Foster City, CA; July 21, 2010

The Foster City Art Gallery is opening a new exhibition on July 30, 2010, featuring two well-known Bay Area Taiwanese and Chinese American artists, Vickie W. Chiang and Peggy Kang. A reception for the artists will be held at the gallery on Saturday, August 7, 2010 from 2 PM to 4 PM. The exhibit will run through August 22, 2010.

Titled “Color • Delight: Acrylic & Watercolor,” this exhibition portrays in both acrylic and watercolor the delightful scenery that the artists see in their daily life and travel. Through the two mediums, they express the beautiful world they live in through color and brush stroke. The gorgeous exhibition features around 20 paintings.

Vickie Chiang was born in Taipei City, Taiwan and moved to United States in 2000. She is a fine artist and illustrator with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Academy of Art University of San Francisco. Her decorative designs for greeting cards have been sold on Minted.com and SnapFish Publisher. She also has illustrated books which were published in Taiwan.

Ms. Chiang’s paintings feature bold colors and almost pattern-like designs. As an illustrator, she translates what she sees into art in a different way than traditional fine artist. For instance, some of her paintings evoke the look and feel of children's books while others are bold with expressive strokes.

Vickie believes art has many forms and styles, there is no perfection in art. What matters is if the artist actually represents what is inspiring him/her. Vickie teaches art to children from ages 5 to 17 in East Art Studio in San Francisco. She inspires her students and gives them the ability to see the beauty of the world, helping them to be open-minded and appreciative of the things they observe.

Peggy Kang was born in Redwood City, California. She is currently attending Mercy High School in San Francisco. She has been taking art classes from Vickie Chiang for almost four years at East Art Studio in San Francisco. Similar to her teacher, she uses a wide range of colors to create vivid artwork. In this show she focuses on beautiful scenery and hopes to fascinate and bring joy to the viewers. Peggy looks upon art as a way to convey her feelings and as a means to personally mature in patience and persistence.
