Arts and Culture Committee Sets Goals For 2009 Enrichment Activities
Foster City, CA; April 1, 2009
The Foster City Arts and Culture committee is committed to fostering community through cultural programs and events. This committee is proactive in providing innovative art opportunities of the highest quality for little or no cost for the enjoyment and enrichment of Foster City residents.
This committee, which promotes art and culture in Foster City, was very busy in 2008. The Committee encouraged the development of amateur artistic talent through a Children’s Creative Writing Contest that received 76 entries and a Photography Contest that received 150 entries. It encouraged the appreciation of the visual arts through the presentation of wide variety of art displays in the committee-managed Art Gallery. The committee encouraged the appreciation of diverse cultures through the presentation of the Chinese New Year Celebration and the Polynesian Festival, which had an estimated 8,000 in attendance.
The committee continues to put an emphasis on introducing children to the arts in an accessible and interesting way.
In 2009, the Arts and Culture Committee hopes to build on this year’s achievements.
Don’t miss your opportunity to be involved with arts and culture in Foster City! The committee meets every third Tuesday of the month at 7:15 PM. All meetings are open to the public.
