Did you know that water-related energy use consumes 19% of California's electricity, 30% of its natural gas, and 88 billion gallons of diesel fuel every year? The following resources provide information on how you can do your part to reduce water consumption.
Speaker Series Materials. In 2010 and 2011, Foster City's Environmental Sustainability Task Force hosted a "Go Green Speaker Series" with topics and speakers chosen for their direct relevance to the Foster City Community. The following is a copy of presentations materials, which contain information and resources that can be useful to Foster City residents interested in water conservation in their homes
Conservation-Based Water Rates. Conservation-based rates encourage conservation through a rate structure that increases as usage increases. EMID shifted to a conservation-based approach in July 2010. As part of the conservation emphasis, rebates are available for water-saving equipment and materials, like high-efficiency toilets and washing machines, irrigation systems and drought-tolerant landscaping.
