Reflections
As I reflect on 2008 I can honestly say it held for me some of my highest moments and lowest moments of my life.....to date that is!!! Family issues, deaths, births, unexpected health problems and the challenge of every day life that we all face.

Being your Mayor for the year 2008 was the most challenging job I have ever had and the most difficult. I must say it was rewarding and satisfying as well. No one or nothing can prepare you for the people you will meet or the decisions you must make. Of course watching Ron Cox when I was Vice Mayor taught me how to listen with respect. I feel my strengths as a community mediator helped me deal with some difficult challenges and gave me another insight about the diversity of Foster City.

Contentment is not the fulfillment of what you don't have but the realization of how much you already have.

I am still looking for that book entitled "How To Make All The People Happy All the Time".......I'm afraid it still does not exist. We must be able to compromise and we must learn to live together in harmony on this planet because as of now it is our only choice. We all have choices and I have chosen to listen to my fellow human beings even if their opinion differs. We only have our families and each other.

The best part of this year was getting to know my fellow employees of Foster City and working with my colleagues on the Council. We respect each other and value each other and our opinions. Also on a County-wide level, I have met new friends and enjoyed working on Boards and Committees with council members from other cities. I have learned so much about our water, environmental issues and so much more.

Our County is run very well and I am proud to say, so is our City. We are kept well informed and updated on all issues that affect Foster City.
I have heard from many of you this year regarding issue important to you.......and some compliments too. I thank you for keeping in touch with me and for being the eyes and ears for us.

My wish for all in 2009 is the ability to see what we have right in front of us and remember that our thoughts create our reality. May next year bring you blessings, health and wishes come true.

Email me with your thoughts....... pfrisella@fostercity.org.
