Time to Get to Work

The last few months have been quite an exciting and learning experience on the personal level. As a natural part of campaigning, I've done quite a bit of talking but more importantly and most rewarding was the opportunity to meet, listen and speak to thousands of Foster City residents and businesses. What I've come to learn is not only do most of the residents and businesses share the same concerns I have about the city but they are extremely passionate and are willing to engage and make their voice heard. This was demonstrated by the 40% turnout of registered voters on November 3rd. Thank you for doing your civic duty, exercising your right to vote and helping shape the future of our city.

A common theme I've heard on the campaign trail was that residents and businesses alike want and expect the members of their City Council to work together for the betterment of our city, Foster City. I'm confident that the new City Council will focus on working together effectively to move Foster City forward by establishing a much needed strategic plan. There is no doubt that Foster City is a great place to live, work and play. We have a great community, beautiful parks, and excellent emergency services and schools. We also have companies that are at the forefront of innovation in their fields, such as IBM, Visa, Gilead, and just recently Illumina. We must attract and incentivize more innovative companies to make Foster City their home.

Realizing a vision, developing a long-term coordinated strategy for a sustainable future, reinvesting in our infrastructure, and public safety are some of the top priorities I will be working on during my term.

I'm honored to serve on a City Council that has so many opportunities to better our future and quality of life. I envision a Foster City that attracts world-class innovative companies, vibrant shopping centers with diverse restaurants and services, and neighborhoods that are well maintained, safe, accessible and bike friendly. I want our city hall to be the model for other cities that strive for transparency and excellent service. I want to be part of a City Council that invests in its infrastructure and public safety. We can achieve this vision by working together as a team with our city manager, our staff and our community.

During my campaign for City Council I emphasized that my campaign was not about me, it was about Foster City and everyone who lives, works and plays in Foster City. As your Councilmember, I am proud, humbled and excited about this opportunity to make a difference.

I'm committed to our community and dedicated to its progress. Now, it's time to get to work!
