| Fire Department Awards
- 2001: Program Excellence Award for Outstanding Partnerships: Public/Private Partnerships Category. Presented by the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), the San Mateo County Emergency Medical Service Group won this award in competition with cities, counties, and local governments from around the world.
- 2001: Fire Service Award for Excellence. Presented jointly by the International Association of Fire Chiefs and the U.S. Safety and Engineering Corporation, this Award is particularly significant as only one award is given annually in all categories. The San Mateo County Emergency Medical Services Group won after the field was narrowed to only 7 finalists nation-wide.
- December 2000: Reclassification from "Class 3" to "Class 2" awarded to the Foster City Fire Department by the Insurance Services Office in recognition of excellent service delivery.
- 2000: Helen Putnam Grand Prize Award for Excellence, Public Safety Category. Awarded by the League of California Cities to the San Mateo County Emergency Medical Services Group, this award celebrates the excellent Public/Private Partnership to provide "first responder" Paramedic service on fire engines. This award was won in competition with programs throughout the State of California.
- 2000: Public/Private Partnerships Award. Awarded by the National Council on Public/Private Partnerships, this award is presented to the most effective public/private partnership in the nation. The San Mateo County Emergency Medical Services Group was honored to be the recipient in 2000.
