CartSMART-Recycle, Compost, and Garbage Collection Program

CartSMART is the name of the program for the new weekly Recycle, Compost and Garbage collection services that will start January 3, 2011 for residents in single-family homes. This program will replace your current Recycling, Yard Trimmings and Garbage collection service being provided by Allied Waste of San Mateo County.

As part of the program, all residents will receive three new wheeled carts:

  1. Recycle – Blue Cart (64 gallon): For all recyclables mixed together
  2. Compost – Green Cart* (96 gallon): For yard trimmings and food scraps
  3. Garbage – Black Cart (20, 32, 64 or 96 gallons): For anything that you can't recycle or compost

The new CartSMART program officially launches the week of January 3, 2011 with weekly service for your Recycle and Compost Carts. This means you won’t have to try to remember whether it’s your week for recycling or not – every week will be recycling week!

Recology San Mateo County will be the new Recycle, Compost and Garbage collection service provider starting January 1, 2011. They will be taking over the services from Allied Waste of San Mateo County, whose contract will expire on December 31, 2010.
