The Planning/Code Enforcement Division is responsible for long term planning regarding growth and development of the City, for reviewing and processing applications for all development proposals, and for maining the appearance of the community.
A planning permit is required for almost all exterior changes to any residential, commercial or industrial building in Foster City. The purpose of the permit is to ensure that the proposed exterior change complies with city codes and will be architecturally compatible with the existing site and the surrounding area.
The Building Inspection Division is responsible for ensuring that all construction projects permitted within the City comply with the California Building Code, the Foster City Municipal Code and all other applicable codes and regulations.
