There is a lot coming up in the next month or so. A lot of fun, free activities as the weather starts to improve and we move towards summer. Let me give you just a couple of highlights:
Saturday, April 13, 2002 is a FREE seminar on Emergency Preparedness conducted by some of Foster City?s Finest Fire Fighters. It is from 9-11:00 a.m. at the Community Center. Sounds like the best bargain around.
On Friday, April 19, 2002 come on out and support our Police Officers as they support the Special Olympics. I can tell you, these guys cook a great spaghetti dinner. It?s all for a good cause and is at the Recreation Center. Prices are reasonable for you or a family. Check our website and the local paper for more details.
By the way, congratulations are due to our Fire Department with the promotion of the following individuals: Tom Reaves to Assistant Chief, Stan Maupin as Battalion Chief, Dan Nightingale and Mike Towns as new Fire Captains. We have a lot of great talent in our City and I am happy to see some of it moving up the ladder. Congratulations to all.
Now, do not forget May 4, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Sea Cloud Park for the dedication of Foster City?s Sports Wall of Fame honoring outstanding adult volunteers in our youth sports programs. These men and women are real champion volunteers. The criteria for even being nominated is a minimum of 10 years involvement in Foster City youth sports. And, most of the people being honored have a lot more time in these programs than that. This event is also free and open to the public. Please join us.
Last but not least, make sure you put May 31, June 1 and 2 on your Calendar for Foster City?s Art and Wine Festival. It will be here before you know it and is always such a good time. Let me thank the Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary and City Staff who make this event a success every year.
Summer concerts in the park along with the Ballet and Shakespeare will be back this summer. Please check the City?s website www.fostercity.org or look in your Leisure Update for times and shows.
As always, you can reach me at my e-mail at dwilder@fostercity.org.
