With all of the uncertainty with the state budget I thought I would write about our City Council. We have been meeting every Monday night that we do not have a regular council meeting to study our budget. This council has worked hard in the past and presently to insure our city remains financially sound.
Marland Townsend years ago asked for our city to adopt a process in which we look out 5 years and we look at best case scenario and the worst case scenario. This has helped us stay stable now that we are looking at the worst case scenario. So we are prepared to handle what is happening. Rick Wykoff has brought his expertise to the council with his experience of running the city for 17 years as the City Manager. Deborah Wilder brings a lot of legal experience and an overall view of local and national politics. Russ Harter brings engineering and being a part of a large organization (US Postal Service).
Normally the city council does not write about each other but I thought it was important to let the city residents know that the city council has a lot of talent and a vast amount of knowledge they bring to the table. This council is very dedicated and we are working hard to insure that Foster City will come out of the budget crisis better than most cities in the State.
Most of the council members are very active in the county and state level programs and that helps us stay current with important information in making sound decisions for our city.
The entire council is dedicated and is working towards a goal that will allow the least amount of disruption of city services that is possible.
I am very proud and lucky to be a part of this council.
