Councilmember Rick Wykoff

Council Corner
November 20, 2002
by Councilmember Rick Wykoff

Thank You
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the citizens and business community of Foster City for allowing me to serve you as a member of the City Council this past year. I have enjoyed working for you as well as working with my colleagues on the City Council in addressing the concerns of our community.

Recently, there was some extremely objectionable graffiti painted on the Bicentennial Bridge. Included were a swastika and several profane words. This is not the type of activity expected in Foster City and should never be condoned. Our city staff acted very quickly in removing this graffiti and our police department became involved.

This kind of conduct on the part of the perpetrators show that no matter how hard we try to educate people about living in a civilized world, there will always be some individuals lacking in socially redeeming values. There is no place in our community for these types of people.

Foster City is a very diverse community, both ethnically and religiously. Let us all work to continue to make our City one which we can all be proud of.
