Thank You Foster City Business Community
I was reminded last week what a great community Foster City is and how we oftentimes forget to thank our local businesses for their support. Not only do these businesses provide the City with a substantial tax base in both business, property and sales tax, but they give of their time and money to the community as well. Whether it is one of our larger corporations or a small run family business, I can name you dozens and dozens of local businesses that each year support our community. As a business owner myself, I know how many calls I get every month from local sports activities, the schools, chamber of commerce, or locally sponsored events that are asking for either a cash donation, an in kind donation or a donation of my time. All those request for ?its just a $100? or ?we only ask once a year?, add up.

I do not believe that the motivation of any of the businesses in town who donates to our community is for recognition. Nonetheless, it is still nice to be appreciated once in a while. So, I would like to encourage you when you see a business that sponsors your child?s little league or Soccer team to either patronize that business or make sure you share your thanks with them. With the Foster City Arts and Wine Birthday celebration coming up on June 1 and 2, many business owners (as well as other volunteers) will be spending their weekend at Leo Ryan Park, staffing food and beverage booths. Likewise the Fourth of July Celebration and our very successful Concerts in the Park series would not be possible without the support of our business community.

Individuals as well as the businesses participate in numerous service clubs that do everything from sponsoring blood drives to reading to children in the schools each week. So, when you see the name of a ?sponsor? on a program, a banner or listed in the credits, remember to say thanks. THANK YOU FOSTER CITY BUSINESS COMMUNITY!!!!!!
