Position on Housing Element
I was recently somewhat taken to task for my position on the General Plan update of the Housing Element. My position was misrepresented as being opposed to the change because we are a planned city and the State should not interfere.

I believe a check of the record would indicate that I have been supportive of affordable housing. I did not agree with the areas in the Plan update as designated for affordable housing. In addition, I felt that Foster City had been very active in promoting affordable housing and I felt it was arrogant of the State not to be flexible in discussing each city?s allocation of housing needs. I felt that the cookie cutter law of ?one size fits all? is not the best way to legislate.

I continue to believe that when appropriate opportunities present themselves in appropriate areas, Foster City should encourage the development of affordable housing.
