Public Involvement
Our City will soon undertake a very public process to decide the future use of the 15 acres of city-owned land, formerly leased to the Bridge View Academy for the development of a private high school and middle school.

I have received about 150 e-mail comments concerning the use of this site and the possibility of having our own public high school. Rather than respond to each e-mail, I am repeating the public announcement that was put in all our local papers.

The City Council and I are committed to involving the community in deciding the future of these 15 acres. This piece of property is so important that we need to take sufficient time to decide how best to use it ? not only for the present, but for future generations as well. We want to do what?s best for Foster City.

The City Council discussed the process for deciding the future of this site at the City Council?s Policy Calendar Study Session, which was held on Saturday, January 25. As the schedule for public input is developed, that information and public meeting announcements will be widely distributed to local newspapers, on the City?s web site (www.fostercity.org), as well as on FCTV.

For further information about the 15-acre site or the Civic Center Master Plan, contact Richard Marks, Community Development Director, at (650) 286-3225, or call me at (650) 573-6468.
