A couple of weeks ago the City of Pacifica had a broken water main which required residents to boil water before drinking or cooking. This brought home to me that one does not need a cataclysmic event to realize that emergency preparedness is important in all of our lives. The most likely emergency is something that will impact us from 24-72 hours. Are you prepared to be fully self-sufficient during that time?
With that in mind I would like to invite residents of Foster City to join the Fire Department on May 3rd or June 28th for an emergency preparedness class from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Although these classes are free, space is limited. To register for this class please call the Parks and Recreation Department at 286-3380.
Foster City?s ?Emergency Preparedness- a Guide to Families and Individuals? can also be downloaded online at www.fostercity.org, then by selecting the Fire Department and then selecting the emergency preparedness link.
The Fire Department also provides CPR training periodically to the community. The next class is set for June 7th from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. (the fee is $10). Other first aid courses are provided by the American Red Cross and the American Heart Association. Being prepared is just smart planning!
