Council Corner
December 17, 2003
by Councilmember Linda Koelling

My First Council Corner
I am looking forward to serving this community for the next four years. This is exciting for me. Living here for over 30 years, I have been an active participant in community affairs and I have watched many City Councils work hard to shape Foster City what it is today.

I consider it an honor and privilege to be working with what I dub the ?Dream Team? of Councils. With Mayor Townsend, Vice Mayor Wykoff, and Councilmembers Wilder and Cox, it is my opinion that we collectively have the dynamics to achieve many successes for Foster City. As Councilmember Wilder states, we will still have ?lively discussion? from time to time. I look forward to that!

There are some significant challenges ahead and projects in the works that will affect all of us. The state of the State is still in a quandary and cities will have to bite the bullet when it comes to budget time. I am very optimistic that the leadership of this City will continue to steer us on the right course. However it takes an entire team effort to make things happen and I encourage all citizens to take part in the decision making process in some way. Come to Council meetings, advisory committee meetings, watch the meetings on TV Channel 27, let us hear from all of you. Your opinion is important as we go forward.

I want to thank former Mayor Russ Harter for his dedication and heartfelt caring for this community. He has been an inspiration to us all. I thank him for the encouragement he gave me to run for Council and the confidence he has for my leadership. We will miss him. I wish you all a safe and happy holiday season and I look forward to the New Year!
