Marland Townsend has served on the City Council since 1993. He was Mayor of Foster City in 2001 and 2004, and Vice Mayor in 1995 and 2003.
Mr. Townsend is a long term Foster City homeowner, and Chairman of CETACEA Corporation, a Foster City based business. CETACEA Corporation is a Gold Circle member of the Foster City Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Townsend is a member of the Foster City Rotary Club, a nature docent at FILOLI, and a member of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots.
Mr. Townsend currently represents the Peninsula Division on the Board of Directors of the League of California Cities, is Chairperson of the San Francisco International Airport/Community Roundtable, is Chairperson of the Bay Area Air Quality Managment District Board of Directors, is a member of the San Mateo Council of Cities Legislative Committee, and is Chairperson of the City/County Association of Governments Congestion Management and Air Quality Committee.
Past experience includes: 14 years of successful management of corporate annual operating budgets of over $50,000,000; successful management of international and multicultural work forces; preparation of justification of capital programs and expenditures in large corporations and the federal government; commander of an aircraft carrier and its task group; design responsibility for all Navy fighter aircraft; project coordinator and test pilot duties provided unique training in real time problem management with associated high flow adrenaline pumping experience.
