On November 19, 2003, Linda Koelling took office to serve a four-year term on the City Council, served as Vice Mayor in 2005, and served as Mayor in 2006. She was elected to her second four-year term on November 6, 2007.  Linda is currently serving as Vice Mayor.

Linda Koelling, founder of the original Kids Connection preschool and elementary school in Foster City, has been an active participant in the community since she and her husband moved to Foster City over 30 years ago. Her involvement in the community spans over a variety of interests including her devotion to the various sports organizations as well as PTA. Linda was President of Pony/Colt Baseball for 2 years and created and coordinated a girl’s softball league. She was a member and chair of the Foster City Parks and Recreation Committee for several years and instrumental in developing a number of parks in the City that included Sea Cloud and Catamaran. In addition to this, she has coached a number of her children’s softball, baseball and soccer teams. Her active participation in community government also included her campaign for a Swim/Gym in Foster City, better known as Measure L and a current role as a member of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Linda was born in 1949 and raised in San Francisco. She has been married for 32 years and has three children and two granddaughters. Linda graduated from Presentation High School in San Francisco in 1967 and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree in Parks and Recreation Management from California State University, Hayward in 1971. She was a Recreation Supervisor for the City of Burlingame for many years and a member of the California Parks and Recreation Society. Most recently, Linda completed a leadership studies program and graduated in 2003 from the San Mateo-Foster City Leadership.

As an advocate for high quality education, Linda created Foster City’s first private elementary school. She now wants to play a more active role in city government and provide a leadership position, which will serve in the best interest of the community.
