Leo Ryan Park Renovaton
The upcoming July 4th celebration may take on a different look this year. If you have driven by Leo Ryan Park lately you have seen a construction fence that cuts the size of the park almost in half. The park and especially the boardwalk is being remodeled. The boardwalk is being totally replaced during this year. The boardwalk was in such poor shape we had no alternative but to replace it completely now.

Since the Leo Ryan Park?s Improvement Project is scheduled to last for 2 years, there will be some inconveniences, at times, to the public especially during the Fourth of July celebration.

We?ll continue the Fourth of July tradition of families spending the day at the park, listening to live music, playing volleyball, organized games, marching in the children?s parade, and enjoying the array of booths including the Lions Club?s barbecue, arts and crafts, the firework show, and community information. It will be a challenge in coordinating all these fun events during construction and we are asking for the public?s understanding and patience.

Some of the spectators for the fireworks show will probably have to bring lawn chairs and sit on East Hillsdale Blvd.

The City of Foster City and Parks and Recreation Department along with the Foster City Lions Club are working hard in coordinating the Fourth of July celebration event.

The Leo Ryan Park north meadow, however, will not be affected by this Phase of the construction.

There will be future communications and press releases to the community with alternative ideas of where to watch the fireworks display and other related changes. Council member Rick Wykoff stated at a meeting that the Foster City citizens have always been supportive and cooperative during times of change when they have been notified and we will do our best in informing our citizens.
We are confident that this project will run smoothly and that the Fourth of July Celebration will again be a blast you won?t want to miss!
