Mayor Ron Cox

Council Corner

Last Year as Mayor
I can’t believe I am in my last year on the City Council already. At least I get to serve as Mayor, which I am very grateful for. This is the start of my eighth and final year on the City Council since Foster City has a 2 term limit.

Being Mayor for my last year made me really think about what I wanted to see happen before I left office. After thinking about this I realized that everything already is being planned, started, or completed. We are seeing 2 commercial sites being planned for housing, and the 15 acre site next to City Hall being designed for senior assisted living complex and acreage being set aside for a Charter High School.

The development of the 15 acre site is very important financially for our city. It will offset any financial deficiency we may have for many years to come. I think it is important to maintain the levels of service for our residents that we currently have.

During this year I will be looking and listening to our citizens and any other projects or needs that may arise. I plan on leaving office with Foster City as strong as or stronger than when I started on the City Council in 1999.

I am also looking to see where I can keep making an impact in our community after I leave office.

Happy Holidays and may 2007 be a great year for all of us. You may reach Ron Cox via e-mail rcox@fostercity.org.
