I can’t believe it has been eight years since I was first elected to the City Council. I have seen both good times and bad on the Council. I went on a Council that was divided and did not work well together. When I was running for election everyone would ask me (what camp are you in) and my reply was always the same, no one’s camp I am voting for what is right for Foster City and its citizens.
I stayed true to my words, I never voted on anything because that is how somebody else on the Council voted. I went on the Council and got along with everyone. When we had a tough decision to make and struggling with how I should vote, I asked myself the same question each time (what is best for Foster City and its residents?) and voted that way. I never played any political games and took my elected position very seriously.
In the eight years on the Council I never missed a City Council meeting and that means I was present not just calling in. I planned all my trips and vacations around the City Council schedule, not mine. This also had carried on before I was elected to the Council, I was on the Planning Commission for 5 years and never missed a meeting then either.
When I got on the Council I promoted a fair rotation for the Mayor position. A council person had been passed by because he wasn’t in the “right camp”, I felt this was wrong and fought hard to bring fairness to the Council and it worked. I have treated every Councilperson with respect and respected their opinion on any item, including how they voted on any item. Every Councilperson I have met in Foster City has had the best interest of the City in their heart.
Thanks to all my supporters. I am proud to say I was a member of the Foster City City Council.
