Friday Night Rocks in Foster City
Friday nights are really hopping in Foster City. Every summer, the amphitheater over-looking the main lagoon at Leo Ryan Park comes alive with a variety of musical sounds from some very talented musicians performing Rock, Jazz, Country and Salsa.

The bands performing thus far have provided something for everyone. From the looks of the crowds attending the Summer Concert Series in the park, Foster City is the place to be to start the weekends off right. Since it started a few weeks ago, the bands have been incredibly fun to dance to, sing along with or just listen and enjoy.

The weather has contributed to the popularity of this event and with the food and beverages provided by the Foster City Lions and Rotarians, there really isn’t anywhere else to be on Friday nights except in Foster City. This popular event has really become a gathering for friends, neighbors and families. It’s quite obvious that both adults and children are really enjoying a “night out on the town” together.

Thinking ahead to the completion of our downtown area, I can’t help but think what a vibrant gathering place this will be in the years to come. As seen in other cities around San Mateo County, the redevelopment of areas within those cities is keeping up with the changing needs of its residents.

I am pleased that we are moving to the next step in the development of the 15 acres of public land so we can expand on those special events that bring our community together. It has been an exciting road for me to be a part of the decision-making process and be able to take part in piecing together the component parts that will finalize the city center.

With the potential for additional planned activities and events, this community will be an exciting destination location. As I’ve said many times before, making changes as significant as this is never easy but knowing what the outcome will be makes it all worth waiting for. Watching the people at these concerts enjoy the ambiance of our city resonates a feeling of its community spirit.
