The Foster City Lions Club and the City of Foster City have been planning the events that will take place on July 4th at Leo Ryan Park for months.
The Island United Church will kick off the morning with the pancake breakfast starting at 8:00 am and serving through 11:00 am. The Foster City Lions will open their food booths at 10 am along with all the other booths. The stage will have activities and entertainment all day long. The opening day ceremonies will kick off at 10:00 am with Charles Freeman singing the National Anthem. There will be food, games, and a lot of fun for the entire family all day long. Be sure to check out the City?s video invitation to the 4th of July event that?s being shown daily on FCTV, Cable Channel 27. Check out the station?s programming schedule in today?s edition of the Islander.
The remodeling of Leo Ryan Park should not hinder the events that are put on during the day. The fireworks will be a little more of a challenge. The plans are to let people sit on East Hillsdale Blvd and view the fireworks from there. I suggest strongly that you bring lawn chairs and other items to sit on in the street. Another option may be to find alternative parks from which you could see the fireworks.
Leo Ryan Park phase 1 will be completed and ready for next year?s celebrations. This renovation of the park and boardwalk will not have to be done again for 30-40 years.
The City planned this the best they could so we would have interruptions for only one season of entertainment.
The parking will be the same as in the past, namely in the empty field on Shell Blvd across from Leo Ryan Park.
Please bring out the family and enjoy the full day of fun planned at Leo Ryan Park on the 4th of July.
