Councilmember Ron Cox

Council Corner
August 20, 2003
by Councilmember Ron Cox

Cox  Koelling  and Wykoff  City Council Winners
These are the three candidates that qualified to run for the three seats available for city council. The fourth candidate did not meet the required signatures to qualify as a candidate. I am ecstatic that I don?t have to run a campaign and spend thousands of dollars and dedicate about 300 hrs of campaigning. Rick Wykoff and myself are the incumbents and Linda Koelling is a new candidate. I had endorsed Rick?s nomination because he is a very strong council member, and I had also supported Linda Koelling also because of her background as an educator and businesswoman here in Foster City. I think it is critical to have a strong background in business, leadership, and involvement in this community to face the budget shortfalls we are going to see in the future.

By not having an election in Foster City for city council the City will save about $20,000.

I will miss the input I get from going door to door and talking to our residents, and all the meetings we have with local businesses. I like to keep in touch with the feelings of the community so my voting is representative of that.

I look forward to serving our residents in Foster City as their council member for the next 4 years. I promise to do the same as I did in my first term and that was to bring unity and leadership to our council. I don?t play political games and always vote for what?s best for Foster City and our community. Thanks to all my supporters who stood at the ready to help me campaign.
