Art and Wine Festival
Every year the Foster City Chamber of Commerce, Foster City Rotary, and the City of Foster City put on the Arts and Wine Festival. The Chamber does most of the coordination of all the vendors, booths, entertainment, arranging of the carnival rides, and selling tickets for the rides. The Foster City Rotary Club helps the Chamber with volunteers to make the event happen.

This year’s event was great except for the wind. On Saturday and Sunday the wind was blowing so hard it was hard to keep everything on the ground and not blowing away. We had some of the fiercest winds I have seen for this event. At 10:30 p.m. on Saturday the Chamber was called out by the Foster City Fire Department to try and save some of the booths that had been blown over. A lot of the Rotary Club members were also helping in the middle of the night. By 6 a.m. there were 1 ½ rows of booths that had been blown down during the night. The event opens at 10 a.m. and there is a ton of work that has to take place. The City, Chamber, and Rotary Club had members out at 6 a.m. starting to fix all the booths that were scattered all over the place.

I was amazed at the number of Rotarians that showed up to help repair all the damage that had occurred during the night.
I have to give a lot of kudos to Carol Torgerson who is the president of the Chamber and the Foster City Rotary Club for fixing all the damage that was done and have everything up and running by 10 a.m. when the festival opened to the public on Sunday morning. Great job everyone!
