Last week the City Council reviewed the status of our budget. Each year we do a mid-year check to see if we are on target for revenues and expenditures. It is especially important this year because of the economy.
Our revenues are on target and our expenditures are on budget. We have to watch the State very closely because they are always looking for ways to take money from the cities. So far we are in very good shape.
Last week the Planning Commission held the first study session for the charter high school. The official name is High Tech High School-Foster City. The site the school is looking at is at 100 Foster City Blvd. This sits on the corner of Foster City Blvd and 3rd Ave.
The planning commission is looking at traffic, parking, zoning and all issues that may arise from having a high school in a business district. The planning commission asked for a second study session that will take place on February 17th. When all of these issues have been studied, the planning commission will send a recommendation to the City Council.
Also this year look for a change at Leo Ryan Park. The corner of Shell Blvd and East Hillsdale Blvd is going to take on a new look. With luck we will have a marquee that we can read. From the corner at East Hillsdale Blvd & Shell Blvd to the senior parking lot will be renovated with new pathways and grass.
This year looks to be another great year for Foster City and its citizens.
