Senior Citizen Advisory Committee
Mission Statement: To enhance and enrich the quality of life for seniors who live in Foster City. The Committee promotes health, well-being, and independence through play, creative activity, and support services.
Policy Objectives: The Committee shall advise the City Council on and assist staff with the following functions: 1) Develop and implement an overall public awareness and information strategy regarding the senior citizen community and senior citizen services; 2) Develop information systems on resources which are now available to senior citizens and develop resources that could be available in the future; 3) Develop and implement programs and special events on an annual basis; and 4) In cooperation with staff, develop annual goals and objectives for the Senior Citizen Advisory Committee to be submitted to City Council.
Qualifications for All City/District Committees: All persons interested in serving on any committee shall submit to the City Clerk/District Secretary, a written request for appointment containing such information on their background and qualifications as they deem appropriate. Members of all committees shall be residents of the City of Foster City/Estero Municipal Improvement District.
Membership: The committee consists of nine members (Foster City residents), appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council for terms of three years each. Members serve without compensation.
Meeting Dates and Time: The Third Wednesday of each month, at 4:00 p.m. in the Senior Wing of the Recreation Center, 650 Shell Boulevard, Foster City.
