Arts and Culture Committee
Mission Statement: The members of the Foster City Arts and Culture Committee are dedicated to providing innovative art opportunities of the highest quality. 1. We as members of the Foster City Arts and Culture Committee celebrate cultural diversity by presenting the arts as a common language. Make the arts accessible to all ages and cultures. Foster cooperation and exchanges among artists, arts organizations, and cultures of the larger community. 2. We as members of the Foster City Arts & Culture Committee want to enhance the image of Foster City through the arts. Promote civic pride and artistic accomplishments. Promote economic development through the arts. 3. We as members of the Foster City Arts and Culture Committee seek to educate and encourage the public to value, support and participate in the arts. Sponsor art and cultural activities that educate and stimulate appreciation of the arts. Create a desire to foster artistic expression.
Membership: The committee consists of nine (9) members, appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the majority of the City Council for terms of three years each. Applicants should state their qualifications so that their talents can be used to the maximum. Talent is not necessary as long as the applicant is interested in the promotion of art and culture of the society. Members serve without compensation.
Qualifications for All City/District Committees: All persons interested in serving on any committee shall submit to the City Clerk/District Secretary, a written request for appointment containing such information on their background and qualifications as they deem appropriate. Members of all committees shall be residents of the City of Foster City/Estero Municipal Improvement District.
Meeting Dates and Time: The Third Tuesday of every month, at 7:15 p.m. at the Foster City Council Chambers Conference Room, 620 Foster City Boulevard, Foster City.
