| Other Housing Programs Available to Income-Eligible Foster City Residents The following programs are available to income eligible Foster City Residents. These programs are not administered by the City of Foster City. 1. Shared Housing Program The Shared Housing Program is run by the Human Investment Project (HIP) which is a private non-profit corporation that matches those wishing to provide affordable housing in a shared situation with those seeking affordable housing in a shared situation. The Human Investment Project also runs another program called group share, which matched individuals and some small families in homes, which are leased by HIP. Samaritan House Samaritan House is a private, non-profit corporation, which provides for, clothing, shelter, employment, etc. for people experiencing a hardship in the San Mateo County area. For more information on this program please contact the Samaritan House at 650-347-3648. 3. Shelter Network of San Mateo County Shelter Network is a private, non-profit organization, which helps homeless residents of San Mateo County meet their needs and regain stability through a variety of programs. For more information on this project please contact 650-340-8814. 4. Reverse Annuity Mortgage A Reverse Annuity Mortgage provides a way to take advantage of the equity in your home without selling it and while still living there. Certain mortgage lenders are offering the loans which are insured by HUD, to homeowners who have paid off, or are close to paying off, their mortgages. The lender will make monthly payments to the homeowner for the rest of his/her life or until the house is sold, at which point the lender is paid back with interest. For more information on this program please read the flyer or contact Human Investment Project, which provides counseling to homeowners who are interested in this program. 5. Home Rehabilitation Loan Program Foster City Residents may apply for a home rehabilitation loan through the County of San Mateo. These low interest loans, available to income-eligible homeowners only, may be used for home repairs and rehabilitation. The City of Foster City does not run this program and all questions should be directed to the San Mateo County Office of Housing at 650-802-5033. |
