This group is dedicated to providing the residents of Foster City with fresh, clean, healthful water. The Estero Municipal Improvement District acquires water from the Hetch Hetchy System. The staff of the Public Works Water group ensures that proper water system pressure is maintained and that water booster pumps will respond to emergency service requirements at all times.

The Water group also manages a preventative maintenance program to replace older valves and water meters.

Foster City is located in an area of water resource scarcity -- there is never enough water to allow waste.
