What is LiveScan?
LiveScan is inkless electronic fingerprinting. The fingerprints are electronically transmitted to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for completion of a criminal record check.
Is an appointment required for LiveScan service? YES

What is the cost for LiveScan?
The Police Department's fee is $29*, plus applicable State and Federal charges.
- Additional fees may apply depending on the type application being processed.
- Confirm these costs prior to arrival.
- Debit (ATM) and credit cards are not accepted. Check or cash is accepted, but exact change is desirable.

What do I need to bring to my LiveScan appointment?
- The "REQUEST FOR LIVESCAN SERVICE" form (BCII-8016), which should already be completed by the agency or person who is requesting you to be fingerprinted. The form must be legible (typed or printed clearly).
- Valid photo ID required. Examples:

- Passport
The Foster City Police Department is not authorized to fingerprint for immigration purposes.
