Captain Jon Froomin has been a member of the Foster City Police Department since 1983 when he became the Department’s first police explorer captain. In 1986 he became a part time community service officer, primarily responsible for parking enforcement.
On July 8, 1988 Captain Froomin was hired as a police officer recruit and attended the Santa Rosa Police Academy. As an officer, he served in patrol, and as a motorcycle officer and detective. In January 1997 he was promoted to corporal where he served as a field training officer and a supervisor in the absence of the team sergeant. While a corporal, he accepted the responsibility of being an acting sergeant on two separate occasions.
On November 11, 1998, Captain Froomin was promoted to sergeant and served as a patrol supervisor until being promoted to the rank of lieutenant on July 14, 2000. As a lieutenant, he worked in patrol, training, and administration. He managed the field training program, in-service training, and the Department’s budget preparation. He was promoted to captain on July 1, 2004. He served as the administration division captain from 2004-2007 and is currently serving as the patrol division commander. He is responsible for all uniformed patrol services of the police department.
Jon grew up in Foster City, attended our public schools and participated in youth activities in the community. He earned his Bachelors Degree in Public Administration from the University of San Francisco. Jon is a member of the Foster City Lions Club and is active with the Special Olympics.
