Wednesday After School Enrichment
Audubon School
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Wednesday Enrichment program?
The Foster City Parks and Recreation Department in cooperation with Foster City Elementary Schools created the Wednesday Enrichment program to provide a fun, academic and recreation based childcare to assist families on early dismissal days. The classes are taught by professional organizations as well as volunteers, parents, and community members with skills and talents in various areas of interest.
Where do the Enrichment Classes take place? All enrichment classes take place at Audubon School unless otherwise noted on the registration form.
How do I register my child?
Registrations for Wednesday Enrichment are processed through our online registration system only. You'll need to log on to www.fostercity.org and find the Parks and Recreation/Youth Program Page. Families without internet access may bring their forms to the Recreation Center, 650 Shell Blvd on designated dates only (see registration form for dates and times).
Help! I didn't get a receipt in the mail and class is starting tomorrow!
Because registrations are accepted only through the online system, your email confirmation is your receipt. You may also log in to your family's individual account and verify your child's status.
How will my child know what classroom he/she is supposed to go to?
Classroom assignments are designated by the individual school and are posted in the school office the Monday before the start of the program. Classroom locations are subject to change. If your child forgets his/her classroom location please direct them to the school office for assistance. Your child's core teacher will also have the room assignments available upon request.
My child is enrolled in The Annex, but would like to take an Enrichment class.
Children enrolled in The Annex are welcome to take an after school enrichment class. Parents are responsible for notifying The Annex Staff if their child will be attending Wednesday Enrichment. Please remind your child to go directly to The Annex building immediately after their Wednesday Enrichment class has been dismissed.
The first day of Enrichment is tomorrow. How does the process work?
Each school has a different schedule for the 1st day of classes.
Audubon School: Audubon students meet in the lunch courtyard for lunch and then enjoy approximately 15 minutes of supervised free play before they are called back into the courtyard for roll. Ms. Nancy Charlow takes roll each Wednesday before the start of classes. After roll has been taken, children are directed to their designated classrooms.
Where do I pick my child up from when class has ended?
Parents are welcome to meet their child at their designated classroom (see school office), or designate a specific location with your child where you will meet each Wednesday. Parents should park on Edgewater/Beach Park Blvds/Polaris (Foster City School) Gull/Crane Avenues (Audubon School) Polynesia Drive (Brewer Island) and not in the school parking lots.
What if my child does not like his/her class? Can he/she transfer?
Requests for transfers to an alternate class (pending space availability) must be made no later than the 2nd Wednesday of class. Requests after this date will not be considered.
My child is not happy in his/her class. Can I get a refund?
Requests for refunds from an Enrichment class must be made no later than the 2nd Wednesday of class. Requests after this date will not be considered. The parent will receive a refund by mail check. Refunds are pro-rated based on the number of class meetings that have taken place. All refunds come in the form of a check and are issued via mail. Refunds take approximately 4-5 weeks to receive in the mail.
May I visit my child's Enrichment class?
Parents/guardians are welcome to visit their child's Enrichment class. All guests MUST register at the school's office before each visit. As a courtesy to students and staff we ask our families to limit their visits to one per session. Please check with your child's Enrichment instructor to see if she/he will be having a special performance/open house activity on the last day of class.
Does the Foster City Recreation Department offer financial assistance for Enrichment classes?
Partial scholarships are available for students in need of financial assistance. Please contact the Youth Program Coordinator prior to the start of the Enrichment session for information about the Friends of Foster City Scholarship Fund.
