Building Permit Fees
Obtaining permits requires paying a fee to various agencies based on the project's valuation which is calculated by adding the cost of labor and materials to complete it. The valuation of labor must be considered even if you do the work yourself. If you do not know how to determine the cost of labor when you are doing the work yourself, the "Rule of Thumb" is to use the same figure as the cost of the material.
Project valuation considers all materials including construction, electrical and mechanical, labor and fixtures and appliances not portable such toilets, ovens and light fixtures.
The Building Inspectiuon Division can help you with an estimate of the permit costs for your project. Please call the Building Inspection Division or stop by City Hall for questions regarding submittal requirements and permit fees.
