Garage Sale / Yard Sale Permits

A permit is not required to hold any yard or garage sale; however there are certain restrictions on when and how to use such signs. The following guidelines help explain the restrictions on such signs.

Signs must be mounted on a post or A frame and must not exceed four square feet in area.

Garage or yard sale signs used to advertise such a sale on residential property may not be illuminated.

One sign is allowed on the property where the sale is to take place.

Up to four additional signs will be allowed on weekends and holidays on other private property, with the owners? permission. These signs may also exhibit directional arrows and instructions. No more than three garage / yard sale signs may be located on a single property.

No more than six such signs can be located within forty feet of an intersection.

Garage or yard sale signs are not allowed on sidewalks, streets, medians, public right-of-ways, or where they interfere with vehicular sight distance, nor can they be allowed to be taped, wired, glued, tied or in any way affixed to light poles, street signs, or any public property.
