Volunteers

The dedication of the people and groups in our community who volunteer to make our community a better place to live is important to the City and our City Council.

The City has volunteer opportunities available for those who are interested in working with the City. If interested use the information below to contact the group you are interested in working with. A personal interview will be scheduled and attendance at a orientation meeting is necessary. On-going training will also be provided. Review the opportunities below and contact them if interested.

 

Recreation Department
If interested in volunteering for the Recreation Department please contact the Senior Programs Coordinator, who coordinates all of the Recreation Center's volunteer efforts.

Throughout the year we need volunteers for Adult Dances, Family Fun Events, 4th of July. Summer Concert Series. Sandcastle Contest, Kite Day, Community Bike Ride, Halloween, Craft Festival, Tree Lighting Ceremony.

Senior Wing Volunteers
To provide information and assistance to seniors about the Foster City Senior Program: Greeting participants and visitors; Answering telephones; Preparing coffee; Referrals; Update display boards; Assist with distribution of the monthly newsletter and other publications; Various other duties as needed. Have a positive & friendly attitude.

Schedules: 3 hour shifts; 1 to 2 days each week

Citizen Volunteer Program (Police Department)
What is the job of a Citizen Volunteer / Emergency Services Worker? It is being there when you?re needed, using your skills, experience and training to assist the Department in a variety of assignments and projects that are of importance to the agency and the community.

The Foster City Police Department boasts a highly progressive Citizen Volunteer / Emergency Services program, one of the first of it?s kind in the Bay Area, that serves as a model for other surrounding police departments. More Information...
